Embedded Business Analyst

Contract Term:

12 months

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid – 4 days/week onsite & 1  remote day

Clearance:

Must be able to pass high‑level background screening.

Why this role matters

You will translate complex engineering and construction processes into intuitive, secure web applications that power a $25B capital program. As the embedded Business Analyst you will own the requirements lifecycle and act as the bridge between engineers, product owners and our Microsoft‑centric development squad.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews; capture business needs, pain‑points and success metrics.Produce Epics, Features & User Stories (with acceptance criteria) in Azure DevOps; maintain a groomed product backlog.
  • Map end‑to‑end processes – current vs. future state – using BPMN or Visio swim‑lane diagrams.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily scrum, backlog refinement and sprint reviews; serve as proxy Product Owner when needed.
  • Define data requirements, write SQL queries and coordinate with DBAs to validate source‑to‑target mappings.
  • Partner with UX lead to create wireframes/prototypes; drive stakeholder sign‑off.Support SIT/UAT by writing test scenarios, logging defects and tracking to closure.
  • Prepare guidance, SOPs and quick‑start videos; deliver user onboarding sessions.

Required experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
  • 2+ years solid experience in Business Analysis for full‑stack web application development projects.
  • 2+ years solid experience in Business Analysis for online or in‑house hosted third‑party enterprise platform applications (e.g., SharePoint, Power Platform, OpenText, eBuilder).
  • 2+ years database querying and data profiling in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.
  • 2+ years report development and support using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • 1+ year report and dashboard development and support using Microsoft Power BI.
  • 1+ year system workflow and diagram design and documentation using Miro or Microsoft Visio.
  • 1+ year with Azure DevOps for version control and task management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SDLC methodologies and ability to analyze data flow diagrams and ERDs.

Preferred/Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with .NET, React, Azure and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of GIS or Engineering Document Management systems (e.g., ESRI, OpenText).
  • Prior experience on public‑sector or transportation infrastructure projects.

Soft Skills

  • Superb written & verbal communication; comfortable with executive briefings.
  • Analytical mindset with relentless curiosity and a bias for action.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver under strict deadlines.
